Her art comes from this imaginary, where the contrast between cultures, symbols and colors is essential. Carla studied performing arts and first started with visual poetry, street and photo/video performances, showcasing her work in several festivals like Chile’s Parking Day in 2008/2009 , and Spain’s Matadero in 2010. In 2016 she decided to move to graphic arts, and took a master’s in Illustration in Barcelona, city where she now resides. In 2017 she took part in "Para gustos colores", a collective exhibition in “El diluvio Universal” art gallery in Barcelona.- In 2018 she won the award the Latin American Illustrations Winners, and been selected in “LOS DIEZ” and was part of the collective show in New York. In 2019 Carla published in the feminist magazine “Fanzine period” (Chile); she also had her own exhibition “Alma” (Soul) and produced the Art intervention “El violador eres tú” (You are the rapist), both in Barcelona. In 2020 was part of the “Salón Internacional de Ilustración”, Colombia. STATEMENT My search has always been around identity...I love making portraits because of this…trying to go deep into someone is one of the most interesting and beautiful processes for me. My roots are the starting point for everything…from the colors until my deep interest in racial hierarchies and multiculturalism. Also my feminism view comes from the fact I`m a latin woman... Diversity is always present for me, in many ways, because I want to bring forward elements of it that have historically been little appreciated. Being an immigrant myself, and having worked with immigrants in the past, I always noticed that for some reason “difference” is something that scares others, and feels like a threat to the own definition of our identity.
